Fequently Asked Questions

The Local Authority Inspector has visited our offices and served Improvement Notices on us. What do we do?

Put simply – ACT NOW! Address the deficiencies that gave rise to the issue of the Notices. All HSE, LA Inspectors and Fire Inspectors ask to see documents. They can “see through” copied, modified or otherwise defective documents. The current average fine for not having an effective Health and Safety Policy is £4000. Failure to display a copy of your Employers Liability Insurance can result in a fine of £1000 +.

Do you provide a nationwide service?

Yes – we provide a nationwide service from our headquarters located near Market Drayton, Shropshire. We have retained clients from Gaverigan, Cornwall to Perth in Scotland and from Newport, South Wales to Gateshead, Tyne & Wear and many more in between.

We are a small company - do you support small organisations?

With over 92% of British industry now classified as SME’s (1-250 employees) we do of course support all organisations irrespective of company size, activity or turnover. You can be sure of the same quality service regardless of your commercial standing or status. We have worked with and supported small family run businesses to achieve full compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.

Case History

One case history that springs to mind: that of a family electrical business (parents and two sons) that tendered for local council work. Their application was rejected at first instance due to lack of proper health and safety documentation and procedures. We were commissioned to prepare the appropriate and relevant new documents setting out the company’s mission for the management of safety. Upon completion a fresh application was made to the same council. Not only did our client secure the contract but is now the preferred contractor on all new electrical works. Within two years our client has increased his company size to 37 employees and is actively working on high profile projects. Much of this success is attributed to having the correct documentation and procedures in place when tendering for work.

Can you provide us with a quotation over the telephone?

Normally we can provide you with an estimate of costs following your inquiry. In order to provide you with the most current, concise, and relevant service we would normally need to attend your location for particular discussion and observation, following which we would offer our firm quotation in writing.

What cost implications are involved in travel to our location?

Clearly there are cost implications in all travel. However, we factor in any costs to our firm quotation for work to be undertaken. Unless otherwise stated your first consultation visit will be free of charge. Our charges will always remain competitive. There will be no hidden charges!

Do we offer discounts?

No. Our practice prides itself on the quality of service it provides at a competitive and reasonable rate. We would never contemplate offering a lesser service at a discounted rate.

Do you offer ongoing support?

Yes. We believe in fostering a positive and long standing relationship with our clients and will continue to offer support whenever it is needed. We will never charge for simple clarification or answers to your questions. If additional support over and above telephone queries or questions is required this can be provided under our Appointed Safety Advisor Service (ASAS) scheme.

Do we need the services of a Chartered Practitioner?

Health and Safety Consultants are largely unregulated. Some “Consultants” have neither subject matter qualifications nor experience and do not meet the basic entry requirements of professional health and safety governing bodies. Now that the Government is urging all health and safety practitioners to gain Chartered status it makes sound economic sense to get the best service at the same cost or less than that of non qualified persons.
